Which Banqueting Setup is Right for You?

30th Aug 2019

Are you arranging an event that requires banqueting tables and chairs? It can be problematic to choose the right setup. You need to think about the type of event you’re hosting and the kind of seating which is required to determine the best option for you. Once you start looking into the possibilities, you begin to realise that there are many different banqueting setups, so which one should you choose?

Popular Banqueting Table Setups

Depending on the type of event you’re hosting, you’ll require a specific style of banqueting table setup.

Let’s take a look at some of the most common:

The traditional banquet arrangement – this features a long rectangular table at the head with long rectangular tables placed end to end along the length of the space. This is ideal for corporate dinners.

The round classic arrangement - this is a variation on the traditional style with a long rectangular table at the head with round tables for the guests. This is the classic style used for modern weddings.

The hollow square – this variation sees long rectangular tables placed in a square with an empty space in the centre. This arrangement is sometimes used for weddings or for larger corporate events.

The fishbone arrangement – this features a rectangular table at the head with smaller rectangular tables placed at angles to it. This is a good choice for corporate events but could also be used for weddings or other parties.

The theatre setup – this setup is ideal for corporate events with a speaker and an audience. It involves a rectangular table at the head with separate seating facing forwards.

One of these setups could be the ideal choice for your event.

Choosing Your Table Sizes

Once you’ve chosen the right setup for your event, the next step is to choose tables of the appropriate size. Both round and rectangular tables are available in a choice of lengths and widths, so you’ll need to consider how many guests you need to accommodate before making your final decision.

Level of Flexibility

Another element to bear in mind is how flexible you require your space to be. Will you require a buffet table for self-service food, for example, or will there be waiter service? If so, you’ll need to allow for sufficient space for serving staff to be able to conveniently reach each guest’s place. Also, if a dance floor will be required, you’ll need to allow for sufficient empty space. You’ll also need to consider the flexibility of your seating – will you need banqueting style chairs or flexible seating which can easily be moved around the space as required? Keep all of these things in mind when making your final choice.
